Graduate Diploma in Conductive Education and Rehabilitation

Conductive Education is a learning process which addresses difficulties in Motor, Cognitive and communication skills.
It can be used in both children and adults and have produced amazing results in those suffering from neurological disorders such as Cerebral Palsy, Stroke, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis and even Dementia.
This qualification focusses on Conductive Education as a method of rehabilitation in both the child and adult.
The internship provides time for the learners to consolidate their knowledge and skills which may lead to employment opportunities.
Little yet known
Not yet published are the teaching staff, the entry requirements for applicants, students' practice base(s), the competencies and likely employability of those who will gain this diploma, and where they might work.  

Still to be addressed too is what this new employment group will imply for CE organisations and for conductors already established in New Zealand.

And how will diploma-holders be referred to surely not 'conductors'?

Kalandra (strapline: 'Hub of Health Studies') is a private tertiary education company, apparently with particular concern to attract overseas students (especially from China and South East Asia). The company is new, and this course announced earlier this week will be one of its first:

In flux
Around the world so much is presently in flux. Within this is practical training in Conductive Education, with three new courses, either started or promised, that are rather outside the 'traditional':
  • Orlando, Florida. A first-degree conductor qualification in health sciences, now in its second year of delivery.
  • Nürnberg, Germany. An add-on to a first degree in social pedagogy.
  • Auckland, New Zealand. This new diploma course, possibly to create carers or health auxiliaries.
As is other sectors of life, established consensus is beginning to shift. Not enough examples as yet to constitute a trend but there could be further departures from the 'traditional' norm – and the previous norm my soon no longer be normal!
