In the current issue of Private Eye

Languid-looking chap being interviewed, possibly on television...
    Languid one –
         I'm a flâneur... a littérateur... a saloniste...
There is no word in English

    Interviewer (in thought bubble) –
         Yeah, there is mate
Can their be anyone British (or Australian) who does experience instant recognition?

Such an instantly recognised and useful concept in today's society, so widely applicable and often seemingly essential – no longer particularly taboo even in polite circles. What would we do without this word, and its frequent synonym, and the concept and feelings that they evoke?
